The Joint Replacement Surgery division of the Sunshine Bone & Joint Institute is the second largest joint replacement centre in Asia, performing an average of 4000 joint replacements every year. This high volume centre has 6 dedicated operation theatres (apart from the other theatres) with state-of-the-art infrastructure necessary to carry out complex orthopaedic procedures.
Headed by renowned Orthopaedic Surgeon Dr. A.V. Gurava Reddy, the Joint Replacement department comprises of a large, experienced and skilled team of more than 20 surgeons who perform around 20 joint replacements (Knees and Hips) everyday.
Primary and Revision Total Knee Replacements and Hip Replacements are carried out on a daily basis. Primary total knee replacements are done using the latest and best implants available in the market, catering to the individual needs of the patient and also suitable to his or her budget. This includes high flexion designs, ultra-congruent implants with mobile or fixed inserts.
Total hip arthroplasties are not only performed for the straightforward cases of osteoarthritis but also for complex cases like:
– Post-traumatic arthritis of the hip after acetabular fractures
– Ankylosing spondylitis
– Heterotopic ossification of the hip joint
– Revision total hip arthroplasties
The arthroplasty team is backed by a dedicated team of support staff to offer extensive counselling to the patients undergoing joint replacement surgery, both before and after surgery. A dedicated team of
physiotherapists is available to provide their care & services both within the hospital premises and also with personal visits to the patients’ home.
