DNB Courses

The Diplomate of National Board degree course in orthopaedic surgery, affiliated to the National Board of Examinations was introduced in our hospital in 2012. We accept four post-graduates every year – 2 primary DNB and 2 secondary DNB orthopaedic surgery seats are available. Candidates are allocated the seats based on merit and choice in counselling following the July DNB CET nationwide examination. We also have DNB seats in the Department of Anesthesia and No. of seats in the Department of Internal Medicine.

Our DNB candidates have good exposure to cases in all the specialities in the field of orthopaedics and have an opportunity to learn from physician surgeons with decades of combined experience. Being a high volume centre, there is no shortage of clinical material for our postgraduates to learn the skills needed.

All our consultants are involved in teaching the post-graduates, but special mention to our senior faculty is needed. Dr. V.B.N.Prasad (Consultant Joint Replacement Surgeon) was the HOD orthopaedics in the prestigious Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences for more than a decade. He is now senior faculty for the DNB candidates. Dr. M.V. Reddy (DNB In-charge) again has years of teaching experience and regularly conducts teaching programs for post-graduates from across the state in monthly clinical sessions. He is an examiner for both MS and DNB candidates. Dr. G.P.V Subbaiah (Director and Consultant Spine Surgeon) is in-charge of the SMART Academy and takes an active role in teaching as well as research projects in the Institute.

Our postgraduates have access to excellent operation theatres, the best implants and good surgical practices. Our Department provides access to all major international journals in the different Specialities.

The South Indian Arthroplasty academy ( SIAA ) is an organisation formed in 2014 wherein 4 of the most renowned institutes in South india had joined forces to promote teaching, training and overall excellence in the ever evolving field of arthroplasty.
