Love Your Liver & Live Longer – World Liver Day, 19th April 2019
The Liver is really an amazing organ, mainly because it has the capacity to heal and regenerate on its own. It is the second largest organ and second most complex organ in the body, after the brain. It performs various vital functions associated with digestion, metabolism, immunity and the storing nutrients within the body.
When it comes to facts, WHO says liver diseases are one of the most common causes of deaths in India. Every year nearly 10 lakh people are being diagnosed with liver cirrhosis in the country. Unfortunately, the symptoms of the diseased liver do not appear until it is well advanced. So, one needs to make healthier lifestyle choices, like adopting a healthy eating habit, staying physically active, etc. to keep your Liver healthy & disease free.
Any health day is organised to spread awareness about it. Similarly, World Liver Day which is observed every year on every 19 April, intends to spread awareness among people about liver-related diseases and how to manage them effectively.
