Gastrointestinal perforation also called ruptured bowel or gastrointestinal rupture. It occurs when a hole is formed in the wall of a part of gastrointestinal tract. The parts of the gastrointestinal tract include the oesophagus, stomach, small intestine, and large intestine. It can be a result of different diseases such as appendicitis and diverticulitis or might be a result of trauma.
